Task: Unscrew bottle cap from bottle

Operation: We acquired a VersaAssembly gearbox, 775pro motor and a VersaWheel to assemble our flywheel. We 3D printed a rack and pinion system and mounted it to a series of sliders. During operation, we position the flywheel over the bottle cap, turn on the motor and use the pinion crank to lower the flywheel onto the cap. 

Dremel Cutters

Task: Cut plastic ring off of bottle

Operation: We acquired two Dremel cutters and 3D printed holders for each. For each Dremel, we attached a rack and pinion system and mounted it to a series of sliders. During operation, we position the blades above and below the bottle ring, turn on the Dremels and use the pinion crank to force the blade onto the ring. 

Vise

Task: Hold bottle in place during operation

Operation: We 3D printed two vise plates with spikes for added grip. One of those plates was mounted to the wood and remains stationary. The other one is attached to a modified caulk gun. During operation, the caulk gun lever is pulled and the vise is closed, thus holding the bottle in place.
